For a major international engineering contractor, we are seeking an experienced Senior Instrument / Control System Interface Engineer to support the delivery of complex energy and process plant projects.

In this role, you will support the BPCS and SIS engineering scope and ensure alignment between different equipment packages and control system interfaces across the project. The position requires strong experience in process control systems, safety instrumented systems, and package unit integration within large multidisciplinary EPC projects.

The engineer will work closely with the Lead / Senior BPCS-SIS Engineer and project team to review vendor documentation, coordinate system interfaces, and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.

Control System Engineering

  • Support the BPCS/SIS engineer with detailed engineering activities related to process control and safety systems.
  • Assist in the development of control system documentation, including functional descriptions, control narratives, and system specifications.
  • Ensure the correct integration of Basic Process Control Systems (BPCS) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) within the project scope.
  • Review and validate control philosophy and system architecture for project compliance.
  • Vendor and Package Interface Management
  • Perform vendor print reviews for instrumentation and control systems related to package units.
  • Coordinate technical interfaces between the control system and multiple vendor packages (e.g., compressors, pumps, turbines, heaters, skids).
  • Ensure proper communication and integration between package control systems and the plant-wide control system.
  • Documentation & Engineering Deliverables
  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as:

Control system specifications

  • Instrument data sheets
  • Cause & Effect diagrams
  • Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
  • Interface documents
  • Ensure that all documentation complies with project standards and client requirements.
  • Work closely with: Instrumentation engineers, Process engineers Automation engineers, Package engineers, Vendor representatives
  • Participate in technical alignment meetings and design reviews.
  • Support project execution by endorsing and continuing the work completed during earlier engineering phases.
  • Testing & Project Execution
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and system validation activities.
  • Contribute to system integration, commissioning preparation, and troubleshooting when required.

What do you need

Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:

Instrumentation Engineering
Control Systems Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Process Automation

Experience
Minimum 8–10 years experience in instrumentation and control engineering within Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or energy projects.
Strong experience with:

BPCS (Basic Process Control Systems)
SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems)
Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS).
Experience with package unit integration and vendor interface management.
(BPCS ensures stable plant operation while SIS protects people, assets and the environment when unsafe conditions occur.)

Technical Skills
Experience with distributed control systems such as:

Honeywell
Yokogawa
Emerson DeltaV
Siemens PCS7

Knowledge of:

IEC 61511 / functional safety
Instrumentation standards
Interface management in EPC projects
Personal Skills
Strong coordination and communication skills
Ability to work in multidisciplinary project teams
Flexible mindset and ability to integrate into an ongoing project phase
Proactive problem-solving attitude
