Navigating International Recruitment

As a recruitment consultant at FairPlay Engineering, my focus area is International recruitment for engineers. On the surface my position would seem to comprise working with engineers from various disciplines and matching them to our clients’ positions in the engineering industry. Although this is a large part of my focus and a point in which I am constantly improving my insights, it is not the only thing I focus on. I realize again and again why our approach at FairPlay Engineering is centered on ensuring a smooth transition for both the candidate and their loved ones.

Seven years ago I relocated for the first time with my husband and young children to Dubai from South Africa. After four years in Dubai, we relocated to the Netherlands where we are still living three years on. This experience of relocating and living in different countries with my family has informed much of my focus and approach when I communicate with candidates. I have learned firsthand what the Netherlands has to offer not only to professionals seeking new opportunities but also to the families who join them.

Since joining FairPlay Engineering I have recruited and relocated Engineers from South Africa, Spain, Turkey and many other countries across the world. These engineers are now part of some of the largest EPC and consultancy companies in the Netherlands within the Renewable Energy, Data Centers and Nuclear Energy industries where they will be growing their professional abilities and gaining experience where they can continue to build their careers.

Something that many of the candidates I have placed have in common is that beyond having professional career aspirations, the main drive behind their desire to get hired in the Netherlands is their genuine excitement about making a home in the Netherlands with their families. I understand the impact of relocating from your home, so I find it crucial to understand what my candidate’s hopes and aspirations are. I put myself in their shoes and want to feel confident that at the end of the day, they will find the goal that they are looking for in the Netherlands. Because I know the process and how much it takes to relocate to a new country, I want to feel confident that in the end it will be worth it, and they will find what they were looking for here in the Netherlands.

I do this by prioritizing the well-being and satisfaction of both the candidate and their family. Transparent communication and collaboration between myself, the candidate and the client are key in addressing concerns and tailoring solutions to meet the needs of everyone in the process.

I realize that at FairPlay EngineeringI can offer candidates a platform from which they can cultivate their career path. The reasons for choosing a particular path with us might be that it offers stability, a high quality of life, safety and a sense of freedom, providing them with the peace of mind to pursue their aspirations.  All of the above serve as a beacon, offering them a chance to thrive professionally. The importance of understanding what each candidate is looking for is why I find it so crucial to listen to each candidate empathetically and comprehend their motivations so that I can support them better in finding the ideal opportunity that aligns with their vision for the future.

At FairPlay Engineering , our international recruitment process extends well beyond job placements; it hinges on a holistic approach that balances both professional and personal aspects.
