Sr Piping Materials Engineer – The Hague

Function

The role of Material Engineer, being responsible for the day to day supervision and coordination of the Material Engineering team assigned to a project. Candidates shall have multi-office environment focus and have the ability to provide innovative solutions to clients.

The Material Engineer is responsible for ensuring all piping materials, valve flange and fittings including special items are specified, engineered and placed on requisition. ordered for the project to project specifications. He/She is furthermore responsible to prepare pipe specifications and provide input to material reports. The Material engineer He/she reports to one or more Piping lead engineers on the respective projects. Input and leadership will be delivered in the conceptual design, project specifications, FEED, basic engineering, extended basic and detailed design phases.

We expect candidates will have had a strong technical background in an engineering contracting environment with all aspects of material engineering as described below.

Job Skills:

  • Preparing, checking and approving technical requisitions for piping components including the technical datasheets.
  • Preparing and checking technical bid evaluations for piping components.
  • Generating and checking Pipe classes.
  • Reviewing client specifications and engineering data from other disciplines.
  • Reviewing vendor documentation.
  • Managing piping material take offs.
  • Generating and checking pipe specifications (bolt tensioning, insulation, painting, etc).
  • Executing and checking internal pressure integrity calculations on piping components.
  • Determining engineering data such as % X-ray, test pressure, PWHT, painting etc.
  • Defining material engineering scope for specific projects based on Worley requirements and client requirements.
  • Handling small to medium size project independently.
  • Ability to acting as lead engineer on a project responsible for 12 to 23 material engineers, reporting to the piping lead.

Requirements

  • BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • 6-12 years of experience in piping material engineering in oil and gas production units, chemicals and polymers units or refinery
  • Team player, good communication skills.
  • Flexible, pro-active, good interpersonal skills, customer minded
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, both oral and written
  • You will already be familiar with Scrum and Agile concepts
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • High level of safety awareness.

Knowledge of standards

  • Good knowledge of the ASME and EN design code. Preferably also the RToD code
  • EN standards and European Directives, Richtlijn Drukapparatuur 2014/68/EU
  • EN 13480 parts
  • ASME B 31.3 design code
  • All piping related ASME&EN standards Material-, dimensional- and testing
  • All valves and auxiliaries’ standards
  • AMSE &EN bolting /gasket and material testing standards
